Its a long way... and ... Thank you all...

It's now Wednesday morning - I've been planning to write this since Monday morning but really did not know how to start, continue or finish it.... Unlike the walk on Saturday, which I knew how to start, struggled to continue and fought on to finish...

The mood was a little pensive at the Bull and Boat in Swanage at the safety briefing before the start

After a group photo we were off..

I started off with 2 cameras (Fuji mirrorless) and 4 lenses but it soon become obvious that carrying this amount of kit would probably mean I would not finish..

Picture by Julie Edwards especially after I traversed these steps (the photo was taken from a matching set of steps going down the other side of the valley). You can just see the specks of the other walkers.

The CARE international team were great and at the next check point i striped down my gear and got on with the task of covering the miles...

There was a point when I was no longer sure how I felt about the orange arrows that marked - was I pleased to see them, to know I was still on-route or did I despise the fact that there was so far to go....

The countryside was stunning and we finally left the coastal path at Kimmeridge to head inland and then climbed up on the ridge path to head back to Swanage.

Picture by Julie Edwards There were times when it felt the cows were not just grazing up on the ridge but were in fact guarding it...

I followed the ridge, down and back up after short rest and ice-pack at Corfe Castle covering the route in 56,000 steps in just over 10 hours... leaving me just enough time to shower and change before a lovely 3 course meal back at the (highly recommended) Bull and Boat .

There are not as many photos as I would like to have come back with, but to be honest (compared with Snowdon), I found this really, really tough, although now the aches and pains  have subsided I feel fantastic

I feel fantastic because I feel I have achieved something, I was one of 45 people who have raised approx £45,000 (which will be doubled by the UK government - so I have actually got money out of the government too!) So thats £90,000 for an amazing charity that does amazing work....

But it's not just the 45 persons that actually did the walk, it's every one of you that sponsored us to do this, you gave your money - I thank you from the bottom of my heart, it means so much to me.

If you did not manage to contribute.. just to say it's possible up until July - visit this link... even if it's just the cost of a coffee.

Again - thank you, thank you so much
