Pixie Lott, Johnny Depp and MJ

Pixie Lott has been on tour supporting the Saturdays. I got to photograph her at Brighton Dome. As it was a seated concert, we had to stay quite a way back (but at least we get to see the whole set and lighting). As you would expect, The Saturdays tour with an elaborate stage set which leaves little room for the support acts at the front of the stage. The only issue is the curtain backdrop does not make for the nicest images…

Monday I was up in town for the UK Première of “Public Enemies“. I have not managed to see the film yet as unusually even the press screenings were full for this eagerly anticipated movie. Johnny Depp was the main attraction on the carpet and this brought out thousands of fans to see him. The weather was good so it was a lovely evening. He’s very photogenic to.

I guess I cannot end this post without mentioning, probably the most talked about man this week – Michael Jackson. Like many others I grew up with his music and can particularity remember buying the Thriller album on Saturday lunchtime whilst on my lunch break. Outside the HMV at The Trockedro a memorial has been started (as I guess one has in many major towns). I found the number of people adding to it quite moving. This image was published in The London Paper Tuesday night….

RIP Jacko..

What’s coming? Tonight is Bryan Adams in Brighton and over the weekend I will be going bonkers at The Wireless Festival in Hyde Park. Have a good weekend…

Oxford Street and Brighton..

Extremes… On Monday I was at Oxford Street HMV for the launch of “Little Boots” new album and a short performace she gave. A real sign of the times – a shop gig and 17 photographers.. On Thursday I was at Brighton Dome for Katy Perry; 3 photographers..

Here we have a huge contrast. Of course, Little Boots is an up – and – comming star, and it was in London, but 17 snappers? To give you an idea, the last concert I did at the O2 had 10 allowed.

The contrast at The Dome. Due to a recent acident they now limit the number of photographers in the pit to 3 or maximum. This makes it really nice to work but will cause an issue if a gig is oversubscribed – the time will be shared, so we could be from 3 songs (or 2 as in the case last night) down to one. How on earth are we ment to represent the concert in a single song?

Mind you, both artists are really photogenic and great to photograph. Here is an image of each.

Sparks

Friday night with… Sparks. (Well they were on “Friday Night with Jonathan Ross” at the same time as being on stage in Kentish Town.

A great theatrical opening (I wonder if Tescos have had their shopping trolleys returned) followed by a strong performance. Sounded great and the enthusiastic crowd loved every minute.
